Dukagjin xhudhi = giants before mankind; toponyms Vorret/Guri/Kalaja e Xhudhi*. Tirta Judi: beast-shifter, enemy of drunkards, horse-belly escape. Distinct from the grave lugat’s corpse physiology.

Lead story

At night the jud comes as ox or goose or horse. If the horse throws you, only the belly is safe. In Dukagjin they still name stones and graves of the xhudhi — giants before people. He is not the same as the grave lugat, though the names have been tangled.
