Description

Southern / Arbëresh female storm demoness akin to the kulshedra field but branded as fire-breathing weather terror that also guards buried treasure — a bridge between storm-demon and hoard-guardian types (Elsie 2001:241–242; Tirta 2004:164). Opposes treasure-seekers. Greek stoicheio / στοιχεῖον elemental-spirit contact is part of the honesty; she is not a pan-Albanian equal of kulshedra, and the treasure-cave cue belongs here rather than on the hero’s drought sheet.

Lead story

South of the Shkumbin the storm has a different mouth. Folk name her stihi — fire on the breath, wind in the limestone cuts — and say she keeps what men bury when they think the earth will forget. A cave mouth, cloth bundles and coin under chalk dust: that is her door, not a mountain of movie gold. When the seekers come with lamps, the storm answers first. Ember and mineral cinnabar spit; textile banners of Arbëresh villages tear in the same wind. She is kin to the kuçedra of drought and many heads, but she is not that sheet’s twin — no virgin ledger, no cracked riverbed brand. Here the terror is fire and the claim is the hoard. Call the Greek stoicheio if you must name the contact. Do not call her the whole nation’s dragon. She is southern weather with a cave, and that is enough.
